ENERGY COMMISSION

MISSION STATEMENT

The Cheshire Energy Commission is an advisory commission to the Cheshire Town Council on energy-related matters. The commission provides education and information on energy and new energy technologies, seeks to eliminate the waste of energy and promotes energy efficiency, thereby saving taxpayer’s money.

HOME ENERGY SOLUTIONS - WEB SITE LOCATION!!

The winter heating season is here. Now is the time for CL&P and Yankee Gas customers who heat with electric or natural gas to take advantage of Home Energy Solutions, a free program for electric and natural gas customers in Connecticut. The program provides participants with advanced weatherization and duct sealing and installation of other energy-saving technologies (compact fluorescent bulbs). Please visit http://www.cl-p.com/clmres/energy/energy_solutions.asp

or http://www.yankeegas.com/HomeCustomer/energy_solutions.aspf for an application.

CL&P HOME ENERGY AUDIT--

Today's household appliances, while more energy efficient than in years past, still consume more power, even in their standby modes, and as their size grows — like the increasingly popular large-screen TVs — so can their annual energy costs. As more consumers try to cut escalating electricity costs tied to rising oil prices, CL&P recommends looking into an energy audit. The company's Home Energy Solutions provides a free audit for its gas and electric customers, and charges $300 for the audit for those who buy electricity and gas elsewhere.
