Thursday, June 15, 2017

There have been several black bear sightings in Cheshire, including in the vicinity of the Linear Trail.  This is not uncommon for this time of year, and sightings have been prevalent around the state.

Information on how to avoid attracting bears and what to do if you see a bear can be found on the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) website at www.ct.gov/deep/blackbear.

Black bear sightings should be reported to the Wildlife Division on the DEEP website or at 860-424-3011.  If a bear is sighted close to the Linear Trail and appears to be aggressive, contact the Cheshire Police Department who will monitor the area to ensure the safety of the public.
