Improvements Made to Cheshire's Incentive Policy

Friday, October 20, 2017

The Cheshire Town Council, at the request of the Economic Development Commission, recently made changes to the incentive policy to enhance the town's competitiveness with other municipalities.  Adopted in 1994, the policy provides real property tax and other assistance for companies interested in locating or expanding in Cheshire.  Projects less than $3 million will now receive real property tax assistance for 4 years (rather than 3).  Projects greater than $3 million will receive real property tax assistance for 7 years.  In both cases, tax assistance will be based on 50 percent (formerly 45) of the assessed value of the improvements to the real property.
