CHIEF OF POLICE

The Town of Cheshire, a council-manager government community (33 square miles) located in south central Connecticut with a population of 29,066, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief of Police. Supervision of 47 sworn officers and 12 civilian employees including records, dispatchers and an animal control unit. Chief will be appointed by and report to the Town Manager. Current departmental budget $4.5M. Four chiefs since 1980. Ideal candidate will excel in intra- and inter- departmental relations with an established record of leadership, labor relations, fiscal management, strong and effective communicative skills and a superior vision of 21st century law enforcement practices and principles. Demonstrated ability to be responsive and be sensitive to community issues. Offering an excellent salary and benefit package.
