PLANNING AND ZONING
The Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for the administration of zoning and subdivision regulations. It is also responsible for inland wetlands and environmental problems, reviewing applications for development, updating and revising the land use regulations, and purchasing open space for preservation.
The Department acts as the professional staff for the Planning and Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission and the Environment Commission. The Department also provides accurate and timely information on land development to the Town Manager, various Town departments and the general public.
The Environmental Planner serves as the staff person for the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, and reviews environmental matters affecting Cheshire and surrounding towns.
