PROBATE COURT

The State of Connecticut Probate Court for the district of Cheshire is located in Cheshire Town Hall. Comprised of the towns of Cheshire and Prospect, the Court processes decedent’s estates and trusts. It appoints conservators for incapable persons, guardians of the estate and the person of minors and mentally retarded adults and supervises the activities of such fiduciaries. It terminates parental rights and processes adoptions and commitments of mentally ill persons.

Sometimes the issues presented to the Probate Court are complex and difficult. Therefore, it is important that you seek professional advice, so that your legal rights are fully protected. The probate judge and staff will be happy to answer your procedural questions, but they are not allowed to give you specific legal advice.

Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday - 8:30 a.m. to noon
Closed for lunch daily 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Please note that Probate follows Cheshire schools with regard to closures due to inclement weather.
