Department of Public Works / Engineering In addition to the programs and services described below, the Public Works and Engineering Department is responsible for: engineering and inspection of Town roads and facilities; the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility; installation and repair of catch basins throughout Town; snow removal services; and the maintenance and repair of all municipal buildings with the exception of all school facilities.
MARION ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
The Town has begun the reconstruction of Marion Road north of the intersection of Huckins Road. The new roadway was designed to eliminate the existing sharp curves, which have contributed to higher than normal accident rates along this section. The new roadway will be re-located along the existing open field to the east. This is currently being rough graded, followed by drainage installation, paving, curbing, and landscaping. This work is scheduled to be substantially completed this calendar year. The Town sidewalk will be extended from the existing termini (just north of Cuff Brook) along this section of roadway, but this portion of the project may occur in Spring 2010.
TRASH COLLECTION
There will be REGULARLY SCHEDULED trash and recycling collection. There will be NO DELAY IN TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION except due to emergency inclement weather conditions. One day delay in trash and recycling pickup will occur only during the holidays weeks of Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
