The Town Clerk’s Office is responsible for recording, maintaining and preserving land records, maps, vital statistics and other municipal records, including meeting minutes of all official boards, commissions and committees, for access by the public.

Absentee Ballot Applications

Absentee Ballot Applications are currently being accepted for the November 6, 2018 Election. Simply print out the application available here, and mail it to:

Liquor Permit Filing: (old fee $2.00) new fee $20.00

Misc. Document Filing (Trade Names): (old fee $5.00) new fee $10.00

Map Filing: (old fee $10.00) new fee $20.00

Subdivision Map Filing: (old fee $20.00) new fee $30.00

Notary Public Filing: (old fee $10.00) new fee $20.00

Notary Public Character Certification: (old fee $2.00) new fee $5.00

Marriage License: (old fee $30.00) new fee $50.00

Burial Permit: (old fee $3.00) new fee $5.00

Cremation Permit: (old fee $3.00) new fee $5.00

 

    

The Town Clerk's Office issues the following:

 

-Absentee ballots and applications

-Burial and cremation permits

-Certified copies of Land Records and Maps

-Certified copies of vital records 

                     (Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates)


-Copies of recorded military discharge papers; or to submit an online request to the National Archives for a certified copy of a DD214 click here

-Dog licenses

-Hunting and Fishing licenses


-Liquor Permit ($2.00 fee to file with Town Clerk)

-Marriage licenses

-Registration of Property Being Foreclosed $60.00

 (fee payable to "Cheshire Town Clerk")


-Trade Name certificates and Trade Name Certificate Form


-Zoning Regulations Books and Maps

 

The Town Clerk's office also offers Notary Public services. We are not able to notarize Wills. Please wait to sign documents in front of the Notary Public after providing a photo identification. There is a fee of $5.00 per seal.

Public Act 17-2 Sec. 157. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Any local board of education shall file forthwith a signed copy of any contract for administrative personnel with the town clerk, which town clerk shall post a copy of any such contract on the town's Internet web site. Any regional board of education shall file a copy of any such contract with the town clerk in each member town, which town clerk shall post a copy of any such contract on the town's Internet web site.        Effective October 2017
