The Town Clerk’s Office is responsible for recording, maintaining and preserving land records, maps, vital statistics and other municipal records, including meeting minutes of all official boards, commissions and committees, for access by the public.

The office accepts cash or checks payable to "Cheshire Town Clerk."

Credit cards are also accepted.

There is a 2.5% processing fee (min. $2.00) for credit card usage.





Effective December 1, 2017

* The fee to record a document on the land records is $60.00 for the first page.

*The $5.00 for each additional page and the $2.00 fee for conveyances over $2,000 remain the same.

*The fee for filing a Foreclosed Property Registration is $60.00.

*Nominee (MERS) fees have not changed and will remain at the flat of $159.00 for Releases and Assignments (when Nominee is the Releasor/Grantor), and $159.00 plus $5.00 for each additional page for other Nominee (MERS) recordings.



The Town Clerk's Office issues the following:


-Absentee ballots and applications

-Burial and cremation permits

-Certified copies of Land Records and Maps

-Certified copies of vital records 

                     (Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates)

-Copies of recorded military discharge papers; or to submit an online request to the National Archives for a certified copy of a DD214 click here

-Dog licenses

-Hunting and Fishing licenses

-Liquor Permit ($2.00 fee to file with Town Clerk)

-Marriage licenses

-Registration of Property Being Foreclosed $60.00

 (fee payable to "Cheshire Town Clerk")

-Trade Name certificates and Trade Name Certificate Form

-Zoning Regulations Books and Maps


The Town Clerk's office also offers Notary Public services. We are not able to notarize Wills. Please sign documents in front of the Notary Public after providing a photo identification. There is a fee of $5.00 per seal.
