TOWN COUNCIL
The Cheshire Town Council is the legislative body for the Town. The Council is composed of nine members who are elected for two-year terms. Four Council members represent the four local districts, and five members serve At Large. The chairman, who also serves as the Town's honorary mayor, is elected by the Council at the first meeting of each term.
The Town Council meets the second Tuesday of every month in Council Chambers in Cheshire Town Hall, 84 South Main Street. Public hearings, special meetings and Council committee meetings are called as needed.
The Town Attorney is also appointed by Town Council to serve as the Town's chief legal officer under a retainer agreement. The Town Attorney coordinates all legal services, and appoints, supervises and directs all Special Council. The current Town Attorney is Dwight Johnson of Murtha Cullina, LLC.
