Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, but the DRIVE-UP PAYMENT BOX located in the circle of the Town Hall parking area can be used at any time. The Tax Office will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on August 1, 2024 (the last day to pay without penalty).
Real Estate Taxes are payable in two (2) installments annually. The first half is due July 1, 2024 and the second half is due January 1, 2025 for the tax period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. A tax bill less than $100.00 is paid in one installment due July 1, 2024. Business Personal Property Taxes are due July 1 each year in a single installment. Payment is due July 1, 2024 for the tax period of October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. If a business closes or sells between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024, the personal property tax is not pro-rated. Motor Vehicle Taxes are due July 1 each year in a single installment for vehicles that are registered on 10/1/2023. Payment is due July 1, 2024 for the tax period of October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes are due January 1 each year for vehicles registered after that year's assessment date (October 1) and before July 31; bills are pro-rated. Supplemental motor vehicle taxes are due on January 1, 2025 for vehicles registered between October 2, 2023 and July 31, 2024. Period covered: the date the MV is registered thru September 30, 2024. Sewer Use Charge become due January 1 each year. For 2024, residential users are billed in advance and covers the period 12/1/2023 - 11/30/2024; and Commercial and Industrial users are billed in arrears based on their past years water usage from 6/1/2022-5/31/2023. Questions regarding sewer usage should be directed to the Water Pollution Control Authority at [email protected]. Deadline for payment of all tax and sewer bills is the first day of the month following the original due date, unless otherwise stated. Interest MUST be charged on all late payments in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes.

Cash payments may be made in person at the Collector of Revenue’s Office. Bring the entire bill. Checks should be made payable to Cheshire Collector of Revenue. One check is acceptable for multiple bills. Please be sure the check is dated, the written legal line is correct, and the check is signed. If paying late call for an updated amount. Credit Card or E-Check online. ** Online motor vehicle payments see below. Please keep the confirmation number for your records. A convenience fee will be applied. Payments are posted on the next business day and may take up to 2 business days to be reflected online. The Pay Online link below will take you directly to the online system. Online Payments Convenience Fee Schedule: Credit Cards: Amex, MC, Visa, Discover 2.5% of the amount paid, minimum fee $2.00 Visa Tax for Debit: (Visa Debit Card Only): $3.95 Flat Fee E-Checks: Flat Fee of $1.00. $15 Returned Check Fee for account numbers entered incorrectly. ** If a DMV RELEASE is needed to register a motor vehicle, payment must be made with cash or a Cashier's Check at the Collector of Revenue's Office. If paid online, a RELEASE will be issued in 10 BUSINESS DAYS. No exceptions.
