Part-Time Job Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in a part-time job working for the Parks & Recreation Department and/or Community Pool. We hire for a variety of seasonal part-time positions throughout the year. Current and Future Openings:

  • Basketball Referee for Basketball League for Students in Grades K-8

    • Apply Now!

    • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age by December 1, 2017 and be available to work every Saturday from December 2 - March 10 excluding, December 23 & 30.

    • Knowledge of basketball rules a must. Responsible for officiating youth basketball games for children in kindergarden through grade 8 as well as assisting the basketball instructor in leading drills and teaching basketball skills.

    • Applications must be submitted by 4:00PM on Monday, October 30.


  • Scorer/Timer for Basketball League for Students in Grades 5-12

    • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age by December 1, 2017 and be available to work every Saturday from December 2 - March 10 excluding, December 23 & 30.

    • Responsible for running the scoreclock and maintaining the scorebook during basketball games for children and teens in grades 5 through 12. Also responsible for assisting the basketball instructor in leading drills as nessecary.

  • Basketball Instructor

    • Apply Now!

    • Applicants must be at least a high school graduate with strong leaderships skills, a solid knowledge of basketball and a good rapport with both children and adults.

    • Responsible for leading basketball drills and coordinating basketball games. Supervises referees and scorer/timers. Enforces Town and Department policies that pertain to the basketball program. Recruits and supports volunteer coaches.

  • In addition to these current openings we are always looking to expand the recreational programming available to our community.

    • To submit a proposal for a new program or class please email your resume, a description of the program you would like to lead and the days and times you are available to work. The Program Coordinator will get in touch with you to discuss your proposal. Seasonal brochures are prepared months in advance so please plan accordingly.


  • Building Supervisor

    • Applications are typically accepted from June through early August to start in September or October. Must be a mature, responsible adult available weeknights and/or weekends. The bulk of the hours are during the school year from September thru June. Starting pay range is $10.60/hour to $11.60/hour.


  • Mixville Lifeguard

    • Applications for Summer 2018 will be accepted beginning in January 2018. Applications are typically due by the end of February. Must be 18 years of age or older, possess current lifeguard certification and be available to work weekends beginning Memorial Day Weekend (May 26, 2018). Starting pay rate is $12.00/hour.


  • Camp Staff

    • Applications for Summer 2018 will be accepted beginning in January 2018. The deadline to apply for these jobs will be February 7 at 4:00PM. Positions will include Camp Directors, Camp Assistant Directors, Camp Counselors, and Camp Lifeguards.

    • In addition to these paying positions, students who will be entering grades 9-12 in Fall 2018 can apply to volunteer as a Counselor in Training (CIT). CIT applications will also be accepted beginning in January through 4:00PM on Friday, March 16.

Current Openings

  • WSI (Water Safety Instructions)

    • Apply NOW!

    • Must be at least 16 years old and able to successfully complete the Level 5 swim evaluation. Must be responsible, dependable and comfortable woring with children of all ages. If you are not currently WSI certified we would be willing to train. For further information please contact the pool.


  • Lifeguard

    • There are no lifeguard positions open at this time, but please check back frequently for updates.

    • Must be at least 15 years old and possess or have the ability to complete the Red Cross Lifeguarding course which includes in-water skills, CPR and First Aid practical skills and two written exams. Must be responsible, dependable and comfortable working in a team atmosphere. If you are not currently certified we are willing to train. For further information please contact the pool.
