Form of Government

The Town of Cheshire has a Town Council / Town Manager form of government. The elected Town Council is the legislative body responsible for policy and budgetary matters. The nine volunteer members of the Council are elected for two year terms. The Chairperson is selected by the Council.

The Town Manager is the chief executive who is hired by the Council to run the daily operation of the Town.   Department heads report directly to the Town Manager.

The Town also has approximately 150 volunteer elected and appointed officials who serve on regulatory and advisory boards, commissions, and committees.
